SAFE CAR PARK PROGRAM
What It Is: ICAC’s Safe Car Park Program is designed to provide safe overnight parking for individuals and families who are living out of their cars. Should you be accepted into the program, you may stay for up to 90 days, provided you follow the rules.
Who Is Eligible: Individuals and families.
Where: Secure sites on congregational parking lots currently in West Oakland including:
ICAC Hub/West Side Missionary Baptist Church, 732 Willow Street, Oakland
When: Complete client auto in and out access from 7pm to 8 am. Midnight to 8am, clients will have walk in gate access.
Amenities: Washing station, showers, and laundry services provided by Dignity on Wheels every Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm. We will also provide access to care packages as often as needed including clothing, and minor auto repair, ticket, and DMV registration support (depending on funding).
Basic Rules:
Face coverings must be worn at all times upon the exit of vehicles.
All clients must adhere to temperature checks upon entry onto the premises.
All clients must practice social distancing and remain 6 feet apart when not in their vehicles.
Clients must regularly wash their hands at the onsite wash center and use hand sanitizer.
Smoke within designated smoking zone on each site (cigarettes only)
Be respectful
Keep area clean
Cars, SUVs and up to 28’ long wheelbase RVs.
No loitering in the neighborhood.
Be respectful of the neighbors.
No loud noises.
No car idling (running car engine).
No alcohol, drugs, weapons, cooking, or pets.
Additional rules will be provided in the Safe Car Park contract that each user must sign.
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE RULES AND REGULATIONS IN THE CONTRACT WILL RESULT IN TERMINATION FROM THE PROGRAM
